Volunteers pick trash from Flushing Bay Promenade on City of Water Day

By Rachel Vick

More than 60 local residents joined Community Board 3 Saturday to clean up the Flushing Bay Promenade and keep trash from entering the polluted waterway.

The gracious group of volunteers collected 70 large bags of trash, painted dozens of benches and generally tidied up a stretch from 27th Avenue in East Elmhurst to the World’s Fair Marina.

The effort coincided with City of Water Day 2020, an annual series of events to promote upkeep of New York City’s vital waterfront parks.
